IED ALUMNI FLIED TO BOUTIQUE DESIGN NEW YORK WITH MATTEO CONGIU

The graduate designer from IED Cagliari was at Boutique Design New York with his projects, including the first cork bed in the world!

From Dubai to New York, IED Alumni Network flied from one part of the world to the other this month alongside the talented creatives who attended the Istituto Europeo di Design and are now established professionals in their field of expertise. Among these is Matteo Congiu, industrial designer and entrepreneur, who studied at IED Cagliari, later obtaining a Master in Digital Fabrication and Innovation at IED Milano, and who recently was the star of the IED Alumni Roadshow step in Sardinia (read more here). In fact, Congiu has been present at the important Boutique Design New York, the most renown fair dedicated to design and two of its sectors, hospitality and lifestyle.

INNOVATION, SUSTAINABILITY AND THE FIRST CORK BED IN THE WORLD
The keywords for Matteo Congiu, who founded the OTQ Design brand in 2017, are two: innovation and sustainability. Two terms that the Alumnus wisely combines in his projects and which are also visibly present in "Bisu", the first cork bed in the world. The one designed by Matteo with his brand is not only a design piece  but an object capable of improving people’s lives: "Bisu" can significantly improve the sleep quality thanks to the antistatic properties of cork. But this wasn't the only project that Congiu presented at the international fair that took place on 14 and 15 November in the Big Apple.

MADE IN ITALY, LIMITED EDITION
At the Boutique Design New York, with the IED Alumnus, he also presented new products, created for the 2021 catalog, and above all a limited edition called “Vita”. A series of paintings with soft and delicate lines, Made in Italy, made with natural materials, free of any toxic and polymeric agent.
